Latest Research Reveals: Music Aids
Learning
New research from McMaster University in Canada suggests
that music lessons can improve learning ability in young children
by encouraging different patterns of brain development. Dr
Takako Fujioka claims "It is clear that music is good for
children's cognitive development."
After taking Suzuki music lessons for one year, children aged 4 - 6
out-performed a control group in tests showing improved memory,
numeracy and literacy skills.
"This is the first study to show that brain responses in young,
musically trained and untrained children change differently over
the course of a year"
according to lead researcher Professor Laurel Trainor.
