The generic indicators
The generic indicators - attributes common to pupils with talent
in all of the art forms.
Pupils with talent may display:
- A particular interest or high degree of motivation in relation
to the art form, including both their own practical engagement and
the output of others
- The capacity to sustain interest over a long period when
engaged in practical activities in the art form, and a tendency to
return frequently to refine and develop their work
- Exceptional enthusiasm, commitment, focus and enjoyment of
practical engagement in the art form
- A clear belief in their abilities in the subject, together with
a confident approach to engagement in the art form
- The capacity to assimilate instruction and direction related to
the art form with ease
- A tendency towards perfectionism and attention to detail
(although at times they may be overcritical of their work)
- The capacity to analyse, evaluate critically and modify their
work and respond thoughtfully and perceptively to the work of
others.
